ONLINE WORKSHOP: Monitoring & evaluating the impact of PHNs on their communities

PHNs are charged with the responsibility of improving the health and well-being of their local communities yet are confronted with the difficult challenge of measuring their impact.

This introductory workshop provides a framework, results-based accountability (RBA), for measuring the impact PHNs have on their communities. The workshop covers:

  • why evaluate: accountability v program improvement.
  • monitoring v. evaluation and M&E frameworks
  • program logic, theories of change and the quadruple aim
  • population indicators v program measures.

THE PRESENTERS

The workshop will be led by Greg Masters and Melinda Daley.

Greg is the director of Nexus, which he established in 1996 following roles in health service planning. Greg has extensive experience in the design of monitoring and evaluation frameworks in the health sector and has conducted numerous evaluations of health programs and services, including consulting assignments for PHNs. He has designed and delivered numerous interactive workshops on program logic, evaluation and RBA and is an engaging, energetic facilitator. Melinda worked at Sydney North Health Network (North Sydney PHN) for several years, establishing and leading the commissioning approach across the organisation, then as General Manager of Commissioning and Integration. Melinda also has experience in designing monitoring and evaluation frameworks and undertaking evaluations as a management consultant, including with Nexus.
