Client: City of Newcastle
The Local Social Strategy (2021 – 2031), currently in development, will set out Newcastle’s aspirations for a socially just and inclusive city. It will outline the vision, guiding principles and role of the Council, the community and its partners in enabling inclusive, empowered, connected and liveable communities for all those people who live, work, visit and study in the city. The strategy falls under and supports the City of Newcastle’s (CN’s) Community Strategic Plan (CSP), the highest-level plan of the Integrated Planning and Reporting (IPR) framework under which all councils in NSW are required to operate.
Nexus is leading the development of a monitoring and evaluation plan for the Local Social Strategy. The work will embed a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework, informed by the overarching CSP strategy, into the Local Social Strategy, its delivery programs, and operational plans, while simultaneously upskilling the relevant council staff on contemporary and innovative evaluative practice. This approach will be founded upon the principles of the results-based accountability (RBA) approach, in conjunction with the Doughnut of social and planetary boundaries City Portraits methodology.
This project will be overseen by a steering committee, and will involve a desktop analysis of CN strategies, development workshops with key CP&D staff, and the development of the monitoring and evaluation framework.
